Pickles and cabbage, on the road

On our recent trip to Charleston, we ate at Husk, where I had the opportunity to try some of their great pickles.
There were picked cucumbers, green beans, and green tomatoes.  The green tomatoes were my favorite.  When it's tomato season again (if the winter ever ends), I'm going to try to make some.  Spices in the tomato pickles included cloves and anise.

Also at Husk, a cruel irony resulted in cabbage being part of my veggie plate.  However, they do a much better job than I cooking it, resulting in it being less cabbage-like than my preparations.  It had a very smoky flavor.  Still.... can't a girl get away from cabbage, even on vacation?
